I must have allure

While having lunch yesterday at the nectar garden I noticed an odd looking sawfly, I followed it flying about for a short while as it looked somewhat different for some reason. It eventually landed on the Thyme and revealed itself to be a spectacular Red Tipped Clearwing, admittedly I got excited when I saw the red belt but a quick reminder in the field guide showed that unsurprising red tipped is the only one with red wing tips. This is the easiest of all clearwing species to see and its one you don't always need a synthetic lure for- look at bramble flowers  in the heat of the day and you may be rewarded.
